The Life Cycle of the Butterfly :)
The
Life Cycle of the Butterfly: The story starts out with a little egg on a
leaf then follows the caterpillar as it eats and grows, enters a cocoon other
wise known as a chrysalis, and finally emerges as a colorful butterfly.
You
can simply talk about this process, illustrate it on blank paper or act it
out this way
1. Egg: have the
children hold onto their ankles, bend down, and round their body into the shape
of an egg
2. Larva: have the
children “squirm like a worm”
3. Pupa: have them crawl
into a sleeping bag or large pillow case with colorful handkerchiefs or pieces
of cloth inside (they’ll probably have to take turns on this unless you have
lots of sleeping bags)
4. Butterfly: have them emerge
from the “cocoon,” swaying with the handkerchiefs in hand.
After the students have all went through the
butterfly cycle themselves, then they get to color their butterfly, and make is
as beautiful as the one in the story.
Once colored, have the students
cut it our and tape or glue the picture to a Popsicle stick. Then let their
imagination soar, as the students pretend to be the beautiful butterflies they
have become.

Blogs In The Classroom.
This specific blog is built for teachers K-12 who want to provide students with individual blogs. It is very easy to create classroom discussions, practice writing and computer skills, reflect on learning, create an e-portfolio and communicate efficiently using blogs. Classroom's, especially high school classrooms, would benefit from having blogs. It would also allow students to express their own creativity in a healthy and social way.
